The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, led by Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, made efforts to improve the academic environment at Sepon Secondary School in Laos. Over 30 WeLoveU members installed a water pump and tank, renovated outdated facilities, including restrooms, shower rooms, the auditorium, and study rooms, from January 9 to 17, 2019. On February 12, a completion ceremony was held in the newly refurbished auditorium. Attendees included students, teachers, WeLoveU members, as well as Somok Kingsada, Vice Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction, government officials, and Thavone Insixiengmai, Director of Education for Savannakhet Province. In total, over 1,230 people were present.

Helping Hands for Academic Environment Improvement by the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation

Sepon Secondary School is located in a rural area about 600 km (373 mi) from Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. Out of the 1,150 students, 420 are boarders, but the school’s academic environment was poor. The water supply was particularly inadequate, causing the restrooms and shower rooms to be unusable, which posed significant difficulties for the students.

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as WeLoveU) learned of these conditions from the Lao Front for National Construction and decided to support the improvement of the school’s environment. They planned to install a water pump to ensure a steady water supply and renovate the outdated facilities. The major construction work began on January 9 with drilling operations. Once the drilling was complete, over 30 WeLoveU members rolled up their sleeves to install a water tank and pump. The restrooms and shower rooms were renovated by replacing old plumbing and making the facilities clean and functional.

Bringing Joy With a Pleasant Environment

The efforts of WeLoveU members to provide a pleasant academic environment for the children continued for 17 days. They expanded and renovated the auditorium and study rooms, and repainted the exterior walls, adding vibrant murals. Throughout the construction period, members stayed on-site in tents, working tirelessly. They also operated a meal camp to provide food for the students.

On February 12, a completion ceremony for the school environment improvement project was held in the newly refurbished auditorium. Both the students, who had endured the old, dilapidated facilities, and the teachers and attendees were all delighted by the school’s transformation.

The school has been beautifully and modernly transformed in such a short period of time. I hope this initiative spreads throughout Laos so that all schools can follow suit. We look forward to your continued volunteer work.

On this day, WeLoveU also provided students with school supplies, bags, sports equipment, and shoes for the boarding students.

Educational Support for Future Generations

The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation, under the leadership of Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, engages in various educational support worldwide. To ensure children can stay healthy in a safe environment, WeLoveU provides water and sanitation facilities and rebuilds schools destroyed by natural disasters such as typhoons or earthquakes. In areas where poverty hinders education, they donate school supplies, books, and desks. Furthermore, WeLoveU aids in establishing a solid educational infrastructure by building libraries and installing audiovisual educational equipment and solar power systems.

With the heart of a mother, WeLoveU continues its support, allowing children, the leaders of the future, to pursue their dreams in a clean and bright environment.
