The Intl. WeLoveU Foundation hosted its 20th New Life Concert at Jamsil Arena in Seoul, Korea on December 2, 2019. WeLoveU has been providing assistance to people throughout the global village. In this annual concert, Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah, ambassadors and diplomats to Korea from 16 countries, including Laos Ambassador Thieng Bouph and Cote d’Ivoire Ambassador Sylvestre Kouassi Bile, all participated. More than 8,500 people, including WeLoveU members, joined the New Life Concert to share and express their love for those in need.

The New Life Concert has delivered love and hope for the past two decades

The New Life Concert is the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation’s charity concert to help and support neighbors facing difficulty both inside and outside Korea. “I hope you can forget your pain and sorrow for a moment while singing songs of love together and arise for a hopeful future,” said Chairwoman Zahng in her opening address. At her message of encouragement, the audience responded with a round of applause.

The donation ceremony followed the opening address. WeLoveU donated a total of KRW 400 million [USD$400,000] to support various disaster victims, refugees, and other groups from 18 countries, and to 211 disadvantaged or multicultural households and typhoon victims in Samcheok, Uljin, and Yeongdeok in Korea. Through the New Life Concert, since the year 2000, WeLoveU has provided 900 households in Korea and 25 countries with hope for a new life and the heartwarming love of a mother.

The heartwarming New Life Concert

Following the donation delivery ceremony, the New Life Children’s Choir opened the stage with their cheerful song and dance performance. Then, the evening proceeded with performances from: Singers Lee Yong, Lee Seung-hun, Kim Jong-hwan, Lia Kim, Yun Tae-gyu and Jeong Su-ra, Sopranos Park Mi-hye and Kang Min-seong, and Baritone Oh Yu-seok. Each singer donated their talents in passionate performances. Singer Lee Yong said, “It was the best reward to sing, receive cheers, and use my talents for good work. It was touching to see the Chairwoman and all the members working together to help our neighbors. I hope we can work together for 40 or even 100 years.”

A variety of songs filled the stage with fervor. Particularly, the audience, using their cellphone flashlights instead of disposable glow sticks, created a magnificent and bright sight. This was all thanks to the Clean Action Environmental Campaign. The audience enjoyed the concert with one heart, forgetting about the cold winter.

Singing songs of hope with the Intl. WeLoveU Foundation

Twenty years have already passed while helping our neighbors facing difficulty. Twenty years is an age of adulthood and maturity. The New Life Concert will expand its action to be a vehicle for harmony, comforting the pain and sorrow of our neighbors with songs of love. Our role may be small, but we’ll make effort to make this world heartwarming and peaceful.

Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah

Like the Chairwoman’s message expresses, WeLoveU has resonated with hope and miracles in the past twenty years by sharing through volunteerism. The WeLoveU Foundation will continue to sing the songs of hope with the love of a mother until the hearts of all people are filled with love and happiness.
