The International WeLoveU Foundation (hereinafter referred to as “WeLoveU”) extended humanitarian aid to communities in Honduras affected by Hurricanes Eta and Iota, which swept across Central America in November 2020. The consecutive hurricanes caused widespread devastation, displacing more than 4 million people across the country and leaving many families without access to basic necessities. After carefully assessing the scale of the damage and the urgent needs of the affected areas, WeLoveU partnered with the Embassy of Honduras in Korea and the Permanent Commission of Contingencies of Honduras (COPECO) to provide relief supplies totaling USD 30,000. The aid included food, quarantine and sanitation supplies, and educational materials. In addition, food assistance was delivered to regions that frequently suffer from flooding, helping vulnerable residents stabilize their daily lives amid ongoing recovery efforts.

Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah Pledges Continued Support

On July 14, 2021, Virgilio Paredes Trapero, Ambassador of Honduras to the Republic of Korea, visited the WeLoveU headquarters in Pangyo, Gyeonggi, Korea. During the meeting, attended by members of the WeLoveU Board of Directors, Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah reaffirmed her commitment to supporting hurricane victims in Honduras by providing relief supplies valued at USD 30,000.

“The COVID-19 situation is already serious, and it is heartbreaking that hurricane damage has occurred as well,” said Chairwoman Zahng. “In difficult and challenging times, we must help one another and live together. I will support as much as my strength allows.” Ambassador Trapero shared firsthand accounts of the hardships faced by local communities and expressed his deep appreciation for WeLoveU’s support. “The government and people of Honduras have come to know Mother’s love for the world,” he said. “We will continue to work together with WeLoveU for global peace.”

Emergency Food Support for 250 Households Through Local Governments

Following its initial relief efforts, WeLoveU worked closely with the Association of Southern Municipalities of Honduras (NASMAR) to carefully assess the ongoing challenges faced by residents affected by repeated flooding. Based on this assessment, WeLoveU prioritized support for communities in areas that experience frequent flood damage. As a result, emergency food assistance was provided to 250 flood-affected households in the municipalities of El Triunfo, Marcovia, San Lorenzo, Nacaome, and Goascorán. The support aimed to ease the immediate burden on families struggling to secure daily necessities amid prolonged recovery efforts.

On October 4, food packages were delivered to residents in each area through local WeLoveU members. Each package contained essential items such as rice, spaghetti noodles, salt, butter, canned goods, coffee, and other staple foods. The distribution was carried out in cooperation with local governments to ensure that the aid reached those most in need. Local officials attended the food distribution, including José Calixto, Mayor of Marcovia; Edita Maradiaga Pedrano, Mayor of El Triunfo; and representatives from southern municipal governments. Residents warmly welcomed the support and expressed heartfelt gratitude for WeLoveU’s timely and compassionate assistance.

I would like to express my gratitude for the contribution of the Chairwoman of the International WeLoveU Foundation to neighbors in need. Citizens are very happy with WeLoveU’s food support. I hope this support will continue in the future,

Edita Maradiaga Pedrano, Mayor of El Triunfo.

“To Our Neighbors in Honduras, Stay Strong”

On December 3, Korean members of WeLoveU came together to pack relief supplies for neighbors in Honduras facing hardship, including hurricane victims and welfare-vulnerable households. The packing activity was held at a training center in Okcheon, Chungcheongbuk, Korea, with approximately 160 members participating in the effort. Honorary Chairwoman Zahng Gil-jah visited the site to encourage the members and personally took part in packing the supplies, adding her heartfelt support to the initiative.

By the end of the day, a total of 1,275 boxes had been packed. The relief supplies included 99,200 face masks and approximately 500 sets of backpacks and school supplies prepared by WeLoveU headquarters, along with clothing and daily necessities donated by members from across the country. Altogether, the supplies filled two full shipping containers. The packed relief goods were loaded onto a cargo ship and arrived in Honduras in February of the following year. Upon arrival, the supplies were distributed to neighbors in six provinces, including the metropolitan area of Francisco Morazán, as well as Olancho, El Paraíso, Atlántida, Choluteca, and La Paz.
